実はこれ全てお菓子のおウチ“Gingerbread House(ジンジャーブレッド ハウス)”※なんです。
写真は昨年のクリスマス期間にChelsea Market で開催された“Gingerbread Homes for Animals” で作られたお菓子の家。
ニューヨークの有名レストランシェフ達が、それぞれおのおののGingerbread Houseを製作し展示、チャリティに貢献しているのです。
会場を訪れたお客さんがオークションで競り落とし、そのお金がニューヨークの動物保護チャリティに寄付されます。
イベントを行っているのは“Rational Animal”という非営利団体。ニューヨークで捨てられてしまった動物、また動物園や馬車など一生懸命働いている動物などの保護を唱えて団体です。年々その規模は大きくなっていて、今では様々な動物好きミュージシャンやニューヨーク内のショップが協賛しています。
昨年のNYTOGOプロモーションでも登場した“Eleni's New York”はクッキーとデコレーション用シュガーを寄付。$3でクリスマス恒例の手作りクッキーをやることが出来て、そのお金は全て寄付にまわされます。 |

Greetings from Rational Animal! We hope all Japanese are good animal guardians and help shelter dogs, cats and even rabbits and birds by always adopting from shelters and never buying from breeders or pet shops that sell animals for profit. Always save the homeless animals first! Thank you for all of your support and interest in our activities to help animals since Rational Animal's inception in 2002.
日本の皆さんこんにちは！2002年から始まった“Rational Animal”の活動に興味を持って頂き、またご協力いただきありがとうございます！ 皆さんはきっとシェルター（収容所）の犬や猫またはウサギや鳥などといった動物たちをいつも引き取ってくれ、ブリーダーやペットショップといった利益目当てに動物を売ったりしているところから買わない良いアニマル・ガーディアン（動物保護者）ですよね！？私達にとってはホームレスアニマルを救うことが第一なのです！

In 2006 Rational Animal did a “photo A” shoot with Adrock and his adopted from the shelter dog Bobby. Adrock is wearing the t-shirt designed by Rational Animal to promote the Gimme Shelter: Rock & Rescue NYC concert held Oct 4 at the Hiro Ballroom in NYC where the Beastie Boys performed at a sold out show. The annual concert (next one will be October 5, 2007) celebrates NYC's goal to become a "no-kill" city by 2010. No-kill means reaching the goal of ending the killing of animals in shelters due to overpopulation with the solution being increased adoptions and sterilization (spay and neuter surgeries) of animals.
写真Aは、2006年にRational Animalが撮影した『BEASTIE BOYS 』のAdrockさんとドッグシェルターから引き取った愛犬Bobby。 Adrockさんが着ているのは、2006年10月４日にニューヨーク・Hiro Ballroom で開催されたイベント『the Gimme Shelter: Rock & Rescue NYC concert』のためにデザインされたTシャツです。このコンサートはBeastie Boysが公演し、チケットは完売の大盛況のコンサートでした！ この年一度行われるチャリティコンサートは、2007年度は10月５日に開催される予定で、ニューヨーク市が掲げる2010年までに"no-kill”というゴールを盛り上げていくためのものです。"no-kill”とは、アダプション（里親探し）や断種などの抑制策を行い、シェルターで過剰に集まってしまった動物への安楽死を無くすためのものです。
In 2003, Rational Animal worked with Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam (yes he had short hair then!) to sell another t-shirt designed by Rational Animal. This t-shirt features the rescued dog, Celo, who was found in a park in NYC. In the “photo B”, Eddie Vedder and Celo play around backstage at Madison Square Garden after their show with the Buzzcocks. The “photo C” is of Buzzcocks bass player, Tony Barber, with t-shirt designer and girlfriend Andrea Purcigliotti who designs for MTV and dog Celo.
2003年、私達は、『Pearl Jam』のEddie Vedderさん（写真Bの通り、この時彼は髪がありました！）とデザインTシャツを製作販売し保護活動を行いました。このTシャツはニューヨーク市内の公園で見つけられた救助犬Celoをフューチャーして作られたものです。 写真Bは“Madison Square Garden”で行われた『Buzzcocks』とのコンサート後に、Eddie VedderさんとCeloがテージ裏で遊んでいる様子です。写真Cは、Tシャツデザイナーでもある『Buzzcocks』バス･プレーヤーTony Barberさんと、MTVデザインを手がける彼女Andrea Purcigliottiさん、そしてCeloです。 |
