Hamptons
The Hamptons is a luxurious beach resort in Long Island, New York. It is a popular weekend destination for those living in the New York City area. It is “the place” to go to during the summer season. The towns comprising the Hamptons community are Amagansett, BridgeHampton, East Hampton, East Quogue, Hampton Bays, Montauk, Sagaponack, Sag Harbor, South Hampton, Quogue, Wainscott, Water Mill and West Hampton.
The Hamptons is approximately 2 1/2 hours from NYC by car. Other ways to get to the Hamptons include by train, private bus and even helicopter. Once there, you’ll find many hotels to stay at such as; The Capri, The Bentley, and The Atlantic.
My favorite Hamptons destinations are South Hampton and East Hampton. This is where the hottest restaurants, shops, bars and lounges are.
South Hampton is home to many high-end boutique shops as well as Saks Fifth Avenue. The most popular restaurants are Dragonbar, Cabana, Red/Bar Brasserie, 75 Main, and Sant Ambroeus to name a few of the many great places to dine. Tavern, Cabana, Dragon Bar and Jet East are the hottest bar/lounges in the area. South Hampton has great beaches which require a permit, but if you are staying with friends they usually have a season pass or the hotels have them at the front desk.
In East Hampton some of the many exquisite restaurants are Jean-Luc East, Della Femina, Nick & Toni’s, The Palm and Barbette’s. My favorite bar/lounge in East Hampton is Resort. Like South Hampton, East Hampton has the Main Street of boutique shops for either local must haves or high end boutique shops. These shops are fantastic and some, like Scoop boutique, sell the same clothes as are sold in the department stores on Madison and Fifth Avenue in NYC. During the day, the beaches are a great place to meet people and talk about where the hot parties will be that night.
If you come to New York City during the summer season make sure to also visit the Hamptons.
